Others, including pro-Israel professors, have sought to build other avenues of support for students. Faculty members at Emory University and Columbia University are among those who have either taken or pushed for no-confidence votes in their school presidents. Some professors, faculty and staff members have gotten caught in police sweeps and arrested as law enforcement has moved to evict students and their tent encampments from campuses. He said the letter came together as colleagues expressed outrage over seeing some of their students caught in the clash and not receiving a response from some administrators when they pleaded for intervention. “There was a very clear sense from very early on, even as things were happening yesterday, that some response was imperative — that we couldn’t let something like this go unanswered,” he said.

Opinion: Uncomfortable reality for Biden

We’re looking back at the strongest, smartest opinion takes of the week from CNN and other outlets. He didn’t live to see the allies’ victory in World War II that year or the conference in San Francisco that month that established the United Nations. But his diplomatic efforts to meet with Arab leaders came undone after a devastating explosion at a hospital in Gaza. Biden himself initially supported the US 2003 war in Iraq only to end up as the president who ordered the US pullout of Afghanistan. “This is the politics that Donald Trump’s rhetoric has wrought among his supporters in the Republican Party,” wrote Avlon.

A Japanese policeman checks the signs to be used during the opening parade at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, 1964. Police officers stand guard at the rowing and kayak competitions venue at Lake Lanier near Gainesville, Georgia, ahead of the 1996 Olympic Games. Helsinki, which built the first permanent Olympic Village in 1952, created a successful and architecturally distinguished neighbourhood of social housing. Barcelona’s 1992 Olympic Village became the epicentre of a process of beachside gentrification and soaring house prices. Until that changes, we can expect the staging of future Olympic Games to look the same.

The freight shipping company, which went bankrupt in August after a protracted labor dispute, owns approximately 12,000 trucks and 35,000 trailers, according to its bankruptcy court filings. Yellow intends to conduct an auction for the vehicles by Oct 18 and seek court approval for the vehicle sale on Oct. 27. The company is taking a longer time to sell its real estate assets, despite having a $1.525 billion offer in hand from rival shipping company Estes Express Lines. Yellow has set a Nov. 9 bid deadline and expects to seek court approval for a real estate sale in December. A longer sale process will allow more competition for Yellow's 300 shipping terminals and other real estate assets, which have already generated significant interest from buyers.

REUTERS/Mike Blake/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Trucking firm Estes Express has submitted a $1.3 billion bid to acquire bankrupt Yellow Corp's shipment centers, attorneys said on Thursday at a U.S. bankruptcy court hearing. Yellow's attorney Allyson Smith said the Estes proposal was received while Yellow was negotiating several offers for bankruptcy financing. Apollo initially offered to fund Yellow's bankruptcy with a $142.5 million loan, but instead bowed out after Yellow received competing offers with lower fees and interest rates. The union, which represents about 22,000 Yellow employees, said the Nashville, Tennessee-based company "mismanaged" its way to bankruptcy.

Yellow filed for bankruptcy on Sunday with a loan offer for that amount from private equity firm Apollo, a senior lender to the company before its bankruptcy. The trucking company said earlier this week it was seeking alternative financing from MFN Partners, an investment firm that owns 41% of Yellow's stock, and Estes Express Lines, a rival in freight trucking. Yellow intends to use its bankruptcy to sell all of its assets, including 12,000 trucks and over 300 shipping service centers. The union, which represents about 22,000 laid-off Yellow employees, said the Nashville, Tennessee-based company "mismanaged" its way to bankruptcy. Yellow owes the U.S. Treasury over $700 million on a pandemic bailout loan approved by former President Donald Trump's administration in 2020.

REUTERS/Mike BlakeNEW YORK, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Bankrupt trucking company Yellow Corp (YELL.O) will not seek court approval to borrow $142.5 million from private equity firm Apollo Global Management as planned on Wednesday, instead seeking time to explore alternate loan offers, an attorney for the company said. Yellow is weighing those offers while negotiating with Apollo on how those loans would impact Apollo's collateral rights on a pre-existing $501 million loan. Yellow plans to return to court on Friday with more clarity on which loan it will choose. The union, which represents about 22,000 Yellow employees, said the Nashville, Tennessee-based company "mismanaged" its way to bankruptcy despite concessions made by workers.

The Brazilian national team's soccer jersey has been appropriated by Bolsonaro for years. When Brazil's national team won the 2019 Copa America, Bolsonaro sat squarely with the players and trophy, smiling ear to ear as he parroted the win. "The Brazilian national team shirt is a symbol of the joy of our people," the CBF tweeted on Monday. "Brazil's yellow shirts shimmered and sparkled in the blistering white sunlight of the Mexican noon — the appointed time of kick-offs to support European TV schedules." "We can't be ashamed of wearing our green and yellow shirt," da Silva said in late November, per The Guardian.
Adidas is on the hot seat to cut ties with Kanye West

Balenciaga and Vogue publicly cut ties last week, and on Monday talent agency CAA dropped West as a client, and production company MRC said that it’s shelving a documentary on West. Celebrities including Kat Dennings, Josh Gad and Meg Stalter condemned Adidas for sticking by West. We are waiting @adidas,” read Shannon Watts’ tweet in response to the incident that received more than 100,000 likes. Earlier this month after West wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt in public, Adidas said that it was reviewing its lucrative partnership with his Yeezy brand. With pressure mounting and West’s hate campaign against Jewish people continuing, it seems the question is when, not if, Adidas will cut ties.
